Week 103 - Laughing at Proposals & Sculling Drinks

Thursday #104 – this Thursday marked my 26 year and 7 month birthday yet somehow that seemed to go by uncelebrated and unappreciated.  I headed off to work as per usual and left a little early to check Dick Smith for cheap Wiis on my way home.  I’m still not entirely sure why DTM insists on upgrading my perfectly functional Wii to a Wii U but I’m led to believe it would be highly offensive to use mine on an HD TV since it isn’t HD…or some such rubbish.

Dick Smith did not have the super discounted Wii U available so I headed home to get changed before heading to meet DTM in Chatswood.  I got sprung for my early leaving as just before 5 my manager texted me to say The Golfing Receptionist was wondering where my homework was which had been due on Wednesday.  Somehow I have found myself in a career which not only requires a whole lot of expensive continuing education every year but also involves company training days with homework!!  I felt like I was back at school and promised to hand it in on Friday.

When I got to Chatswood and met DTM, it was straight to Dick Smith to check if they had the Wii U (which had been advertised as half price and was apparently in high demand).  No luck there and DTM was tempted to head to the city to check before I reminded him I had actually come in to meet him for dinner and we had a show to get to at 7.30 in Chatswood anyway.  Reluctantly he agreed to get some schnitzel and stay in Chatswood.

We met up with The Drunk Bro and The Fiancee (now wife) for some pre-comedy dinner and drinks.  DTM bought me a 2nd huge Rekorderlig about 10 minutes before we had to go, he also decided it would be appropriate after 2 schooners to buy himself a jug of beer to finish in that 10 minute period.  We sculled our drinks and headed to The Concourse, desperately in need of a bathroom stop.  When we got there (a little after 7.35) we were relieved to see Wil Anderson had a support act and we had not in fact been missing Wil himself.

Lots of laughs were had and out of the blue Wil assisted with a marriage proposal between a couple of audience members.   We ran to make the bus home and then I sat in bed typing up my silly homework.  Aside from getting in trouble for my late homework it was a pretty entertaining Thursday.

Week 102 - Selling Clothes & Updating Phones

Thursday #103 – this Thursday I woke up to see an update available on my phone.  With too many stupid apps and other crap, I sadly didn’t have the storage to download the update so headed to work with my boring old iOS 6.

When I got home from work I plugged my iphone and ipad into the computer and updated to the shiny new iOS 7.  At first glance everything was pretty and colourful and it wasn’t until weeks later I would discover a frustrating problem with iMessages not sending and not notifying me that they were failing.  For this Thursday though it was all just peachy keen.

I also managed to sell a Roosters jersey which I had come into possession of in 2004-2005 and worn a few times in my Rooster fan years.  Having since converted to a fan of no one in particular (I was going for Ricky Martin in the grand final a couple of weeks later) I decided to capitalise on their minor premiership and see how much I could get for a signed jersey which had always been way too big for me anyway.  Despite the fact that it technically wasn’t mine, I was happy to profit from it and popped it on ebay a week earlier.  $255 later and I was laughing…but laughing quietly so that The Dodgy Fundraiser didn’t hear and suddenly want a cut from the jersey she “lent” me all those years ago.

A new operating system and a $255 profit all in one day – not a bad Thursday by any means.

Week 101 - Being Productive & Hiding Away

Thursday #102 – this Thursday was almost 4 weeks ago now so I'm not even going to pretend I remember the details leading up to 5pm.  I do however; remember what happened after 5pm, so I’ll just start there.

When I finished work for the day, I headed off to Warriewood to run some errands.  Truth be told I was just picking up my dry cleaning and some shoes I’d had re-heeled but the opportunity to use the phrase “run some errands” was too good to pass up.  I had been so proud of my productivity on Tuesday when I had dropped these items at the cleaners/heelers so was also quite impressed when I picked them up and continued my productive streak.

I then headed home and settled in to watch some TV whilst DTM was still at work.  Before I knew it it was getting late and a little past my dinner time so I thought about venturing into the kitchen to whip something up.  I could hear The Cabbie in there preparing his dinner so thought I’d wait it out until the kitchen was free.  Not wanting to get in his way turned out to be a hungering decision as I ended up trapped in the “theatre room” (DTM insists I refer to his TV that way) for what felt like an eternity.

It all got a bit too much for me and when DTM finally finished work I offered to go pick him up and he offered to buy us gozleme for dinner.  He could not understand why I had felt the need to hide and watch TV  for hours on end instead of making my dinner but I don’t think he was too bothered as any excuse for a spinach, mushroom and cheese gozleme is a good one.

Not the best Thursday but it certainly made a recovery when I finally ate dinner after 9.
